Brings your Mac and Windows worlds together

Trying to get your PCs talking to your Macs and PostScript printers? COPSTalk for Windows brings all of your users together, giving PCs the ability to print to PostScript printers and access file servers on EtherTalk or LocalTalk.

Share PostScript printers

PostScript printers cost less now than ever, but they still represent a significant expense. COPSTalk for Windows maximizes productivity of your PostScript printers by providing you with "advanced printing features that surpass the capabilities of PhoneNET PC and the . . . Mac" (MacUser, April 1993).

Share files with Macs

COPSTalk for Windows also allows you to access files on any AppleTalk Filing Protocol-compatible file server, including AppleShare, System 7 File Sharing, COPS EasyServer, etc. Mount and attach server volumes as an additional drive letter (e.g, F:) through a Chooser-like interface, or use the WinShare file transfer application to see the full Macintosh names of files on the server.

AppleTalk Services for Windows

Nearly every PostScript and compatible printer ever made comes with AppleTalk networking built in, whereas only about half of all PostScript printers offer parallel connections. It just makes sense to use AppleTalk for serious PostScript printing from PCs. To help you do that, COPS is pleased to offer COPSTalk for Windows.

WinChoose

COPSTalk for Windows is a collection of tools that allow you to share printers and other devices on EtherTalk or LocalTalk. The heart of COPSTalk for Windows is WinChoose, which allows you to select the printer or other network service you wish to use. You can also add frequently used printers to a special QuikPick list that is always available within any application.

WinQue

COPSTalk for Windows also includes WinQue, a background print spooler that gives you unprecedented control over your PostScript print jobs. Queued jobs can be moved to a different printer, held for later printing, or re-prioritized. Jobs can be directed to the first available printer in a designated group. Printer "aliases" can be set up to automatically invoke printer features.

WinShare

From WinChoose, you can also log on to any AppleTalk Filing Protocol-compatible (AFP) file server. The server volumes can be attached as additional drives on the PC (for instance, as drive E:), or you can use the WinShare file transfer application, which allows you to see the full Macintosh names of the files on the server.

DownWin

PostScript font downloading and utilities are included with DownWin. You can fine tune your printer, get a font list, rename the printer, reset the printer or get a page count. DownWin is also useful for sending color calibrations and configuration files.
