iBook G4 14” “Mid 2005”

The last, best and biggest iBook, the 14” iBook G4 was the last hurrah of the iBook line. It features a speedy 1.42 GHz powerPC G4 processor, 512 MB PC 2700 DDR RAM, a 32 MB Mobility Radeon 9550 graphics chipset, 60 GB hard disk drive, slot-loading DVD-RW “SuperDrive”, 802.11G “Airport Extreme” and bluetooth 2.0 cards. Firewire 400, USB2, 56k modem, 10/100 ethernet and audio/video in/out ports were lined up the side. The sudden motion sensor and scrolling trackpad features of the PowerBook G4 made their debut in the iBook line with this model.

Although it’s white, polycarbonate styling lived on in the new, Intel Core Duo-powered MacBook lineup, the “iBook” name was put to bed with the “Mid 2005”.

This machine features a 1.42 GHz G4 processor, 1.5 GB RAM, 60 GB hard disk drive and DVD-RW “SuperDrive”. It was a hand-me-down gift from a friend. It boots into Mac OS X 10.4.2 “Tiger” in it’s original software configuration.
