Power Macintosh 9600/300
With six PCI slots and twelve RAM slot, the 9600 was not wont for expansion opportunities. It debuted the new “siderigger” case design that flips open for ease of maintenance alongside the similar minitower Power Macintosh 8600 and desktop Power Macintosh 7300. These would be the last Power Macintoshes to support System 7.
The Power Macintosh 9600/300 features a Motorola PowerPC 604e processor running at 300 MHz, 64 MB RAM, 4 GB SCSI hard disk drive and 8 MB IX Micro Twin Turbo video card. A 24x CD-ROM, 1.44 MB floppy and Zip 100 drives dominate the front face. Expansion comes from the six internal PCI slots and four front peripheral drive bays plus the usual serial, ADB, audio in/out and SCSI ports in back.
This 9600 features 192 MB RAM, a 4 GB SCSI hard disk drive and an 8 MB Number Nine Imagine 128 Series 2 video card. It boots to the original Mac OS 7.6.1 as shipped. It was a gift from a fellow machead.
